It has come to the attention of Merrimack town and state elected officials that the current regime is looking to expand its inhumane detention centers into the Northeast, specifically Merrimack, New Hampshire. Gov. Ayotte adopted the persona of Sgt. Schultz, “I know nothing, nothing!”
Until Acting ICE director Todd Lyons said otherwise.
Here’s what we know so far: The town does not want this facility, which could hold up to 6,500 human beings and all town council members are in opposition to this, as is the Merrimack police department.
Detainees from Massachusetts would also be held here. (So much for “Don’t Mass up NH.”)
IF the federal government has bought this property, Merrimack will see a loss of $529,000 a year in property taxes.
There are concerns about water and sewage.
The property abuts Nashua Fish & Game and the Merrimack YMCA.
There is talk of activating the NH National Guard to “man” this facility.
This will be an additional burden on police, fire and ambulance departments on top of the loss of tax revenue.
The governor has yet to stand up for the people of Merrimack and NH in opposition to this.
What can we do?
Well, for starters you can sign and then share this petition to the governor opposing this human warehouse in Merrimack. You can email and/or call the governor’s office, 603-271-2121 and express your own opposition to this next step in regime cruelty (you can leave a voice message). You can contact Republican representatives, urging them to get the governor to do the right thing and oppose this. It’s also OK to remind elected officials (public servants) they can and will be held accountable for their actions or lack thereof. More info and contacts here: No ICE NH

Let’s all get ahead of this by putting a stop to it now!
